March 28: Create smaller group and create a research question on one or multiple buckets of data that you can answer from the interviews AND identify a pattern (Thesis Statement) that answers the research question. Sam and Jonathan present their outlines.

May 23: Class Presentations to peers and adult panelists on the First Trimester’s Data that ends with a policy solution.

May 30: Students will redesign the interview scripts, based on their experience and potential changed social, economic and/or political realities.

June 6: Students will conduct interviews with peers. Uptown Voices Donations.

June 13: Students will conduct interviews with peers.


Summer 2025 Dr. Finesurrey, co-teachers and a research team of interested students will organize the second peer-to-peer interviews conducted in Spring 2025, following ethical guidelines created by S2 students and combine it with the data analyzed from Fall 2024. This smaller group of 9th graders who are interested in becoming youth researchers will meet for 2-3 full days in late June 2025 for a research boot camp at Guttman or GC. They will accomplish the following three objectives…

  1. Create an internal presentation for the middle school and incoming 9th graders that reflects on lessons they think young people need to know about common experiences, obstacles, and anxieties. Presentations to Middle Schoolers and incoming 9th Graders will take place in September 2025.
  2. Create a public-facing presentation that will be presented at the Oral History Association in October 2025.
  3. Write out their experiences with Dr. Finesurrey into an article for Publication.
